Michael Varenhorst, MD is a fellowship-trained vitreo-retinal specialist, certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Varenhorst earned his undergraduate degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and attended medical school at the University of Iowa. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at The University of Kansas Medical Center and a Vitreo-Retinal Fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Varenhorst joined Vitreo-Retinal Consultants and Surgeons in 1986.
Dr. Varenhorst has been actively involved in the research of vitreo-retinal disorders, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vasculitis. He is a previous Clinical instructor at the University of Kansas, School of Medicine.
